My friend and neighbor, Michelle, is a fabulous artist. When you walk into her home you are surrounded by her gallery of beautiful paintings. She is also an art teacher. A couple of weeks ago she invited me to come to one of her classes that she holds in her home.

This is my “finished” project. It’s a tulip. *chuckle*

(This is as big as you are going to see it! Believe me you don’t want to see it any larger than this!! lol)

Michelle was wonderful. She explained how to use the white and darks to make your image pop. It was really fun despite the fact that I was the only first timer in the class and wished more than once that I could hide my creation under the table. Michelle said that I had just been looking at it for too long. And that if I just put it up and came back in a couple of days it would look better to me. I could relate to that as that is sometimes the case with making cards as well. But the difference is that instead of having to draw your image there is this really cool thing called a stamp! Well I thought I would give the 2 day test a try. Nope. It still looked pretty bad to me!! lol So why do I stamp? Yup you guessed it! I CAN’T DRAW!!!

  1. This is so pretty!! Once again, your attention to detail is perfect. And I’m sure that your Tulip Painting is great!!! I was trying to think of a card to make for Easter as I don’t have an “Easter” stamp set. A friend and SU demo sent me a HUGE care package of projects to make while I was recouping from surgery (soooo nice, huh?), and Terrific Tulips was one of the sets. I think I’ll be busy this weekend TRYING to recreate this card to send to my family before I return the stamps. Thank you so much for sharing! šŸ™‚

  7. Absolutely gorgeous! Love the clean lines and fresh colors. The stunning image done in emboss resist is awesome!
    Have a great day!

  8. Actually your painting looks quite nice to me. I love your tulip card. I may have to CASE it.

  9. your tulip painting looks quite lovely from what I can see. I think you’re too hard on yourself for having only taken ONE class! Give yourself more time to learn! Nobody gets it perfect the first time. I bet your first stamped card was not your best work either – but this stunning blue one is just incredible! Practice more, you’ll be amazed at how much you’ll improve!! TFS

  10. LOL! Good for you, going to her class and sharing your creation. Even if you weren’t happy with the results, it was well worth it because it inspired you to make that gorgeous stamped tulip card! It reminds me of Blue Delft, one of my favorite things. Linda

  11. Wow this is really beautiful, love it!!!

  14. This is a wonderful take on my lesson, beautiful card!! I still love your hand painted tulip though. You really did do much better than you think. Wish I could show you my first efforts but I tossed my worst ones. You did see the differences in my boats though, 2 years of learning makes a huge difference!!

  15. Well you little hustler you!!! I saw that picture of your TULIP and just about fell off my arse! Seriously! It is FANTASTIC! There is no way you have never done that before! I think you should frame it and give it to someone deserving….say an admirer of your work….someone who’s own tulip will never see the light of day…Michelle is a great teacher and you are an even better student! Truly…it’s a WORK OF ART!!! Nan

  21. Oh, you’re so funny! I don’t know…what I can see of your tulip painting looks pretty darn amazing! You know, even if you can’t or don’t want to draw I’ll bet you learned a lot in the class about shading and coloring. Your stamped card is just gorgeous! I love your beautiful background and the white embossing looks fabulous against it.

  22. Susan, you are way too hard on yourself. This is beautiful!

  23. Thanks for showing us your hand painted tulip. It does look better than you think. Much better than my attempt does. Your card is just gorgeous though.
