Where has all the Mojo gone. Long time passing.

Published by rainy at 2:18 pm under Cards, Flourishes, Just Talkin'

I have heard this happens.. but it had never happened to me.. until the last few days. Maybe it is all the wedding themed cards I’ve been needing to make? Well after 3 days of sitting and staring at my stamping table, I decided I needed to do something. So here it is.

Gosh I’m really not happy with it but have no idea what to change. I love all the elements I used.. the sweet Wedding Party image from Flourishes, the wonderful sentiment from Crafty Secrets Clear Art Stamps that I bought at Eclectic Paperie. And I love these sparkly chipboard flower stickers. I again tried to personalize the card by using the colors from the invitation itself. And I even colored the bride and groom’s hair the color of the real bride and groom’s hair based on their picture inside the invitation.

Oh well, I’ve heard that when this happens, when the mojo takes a vacation, the best thing to do is take a break and then just stamp.. just stamp anything for fun.

I love Friday’s. I think it is my favorite day of the week. Maybe I can talk DH into going to see Ironman tonight. Seems like it’s been so long since I’ve been to a movie. I’m just getting over almost 2 months of being sick. Geesh. One thing after another until my immune system was so shot that I came down with shingles. I’m finally starting to feel human again… Yup I think it’s time for a movie. Maybe that will get my mojo to surface. Then afterwards I’ll head to my stamp room and stamp anything except a wedding card!

Hope everyone’s Friday is a creative and wonderful day!

Stamps: Wedding Party from Flourishes, Card Sentiments from Clear Art Stamps
Papers: Tempting Turquoise, Very Vanilla, DP from K & Company
Inks: Jet Black Stazon and SU! Markers: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red, Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Lace, Stickles, Flower Stickers from K & Company, Corner Punch

EDITED: No sooner had I posted this then I looked at the card and I SAW IT!! Woohoo!! There was no “pop”.

I grabbed the card and literally ran to my stamp room! lol Now those who don’t understand this sort of excitement are surely shaking their heads. But my guess is, if you have read this far, you TOTALLY understand. It took all of 5 minutes to grab my black card stock, my white craft ink and stamp a nice black tux for the groom. I cut it out and paper pieced it on. I added a black brad, some black elastic cording and also changed the corner treatment to black. Pop..pop…pop pop!!! Doing the happy dance. :)

I thought the first version was beautiful but it’s amazing what just a few changes can add. The black really does add a special POP!

Glad you found your mojo and that you are feeling better! Have fun at the movies! Ironman was GREAT!

I think it’s beautiful. Love the DP, lace flowers, sentiment!! I think a glittery dress for her would be fabulous, after all a wedding is all about the bride right!! Not that I am one to give advice, i never have Mojo!!

Guess the mojo didn’t want to compete with Ironman and came a running back :) Love the changes and you are right they do create the “pop” effect. Nicely done mojo :)

KWYM re: being sick for so long. Our house has had a horrible past month and my DD is still a bit sick - nausea for two weeks now. Want the bugs to LEAVE!! Sorry to hear you had to suffer from shingles. That can be nasty and hurt a ton - mom had it after her radiation treatments but lucky for her there was very little pain associated with it. Hope your health is back full swing now that Spring is coming.

Susan, I liked the first one, but after you made a few changes in the second one, I liked it even better. The touch of black really made the card pop as you mentioned. We all have those times when we cannot seem to get into the mood to stamp or just cannot think about what to stamp and how to put it together. I have those weeks alot!

Hope you got to go to the movie.

    Hi Susan -
WOW! Isn’t it totally AMAZING how just a little bit of black ups the ZING factor!! You went from hmmmm…. what does it need to PERFECT!! I think you are back on track, girl! Hope all that sickness is behind, you now. I hadn’t realized how long it had gone on! Do take care of yourself!! Hugs and Best Wishes!

What a difference that touch of black added! I thought I didn’t care for pink & blue colors on a wedding card, but once you added the black, it all came together perfectlly! Talk about kicking it up a notch! Great card, TFS

    Great card!
Thought it looks great at first, but after the changes - wow, that realy made the POP!! Well done, I can totally understand your happy dance :-)
Hope you keep recovering and feeling better soon.
    Love&hugs

Yep — the mojo returned!!! Love the pop of the black! I totally understand — sometimes the right answer just knocks you upside the head, and it’s totally a “duh” moment! I’m glad it happens to Dirty Girls, too! :)

I had no idea you were so sick Susan!! Poor baby, shingles are MISERABLE!! Sooo glad you are getting better!!!

I love the card, interestingly, I was thinking the grooms hair needed to be black but thought no, she wants it brown like the real groom. Your solution was GREAT!!!

  17. beateon 18 May 2008 at 6:27 am

Susan, I liked the first one fine. Especially the sparkling touches and the flowers. But boy, you made it even better with your black accents! You rock.
I hope you got to see IronMan. I loved it.
Have a great week! Hugs and smiles

    Hi Susan!

Hope you are feeling better. I’ve had a couple family members have shingles before and I do recall them being in a lot of pain and discomfort for some time. Sending you good thoughts and prayers that you are on the road to recovery!!!
