Looking Back #2

Published by rainy at 12:47 am under Cards, Looking Back

It’s almost June and time for weddings.  I’ve made several wedding cards this year and wanted to show a few that I made last summer as well.

As I’ve mentioned before, I like to take the invitation and use it to be inspired for making the wedding card.  On this first card I used the actual ribbon from the invitation.  The invitation itself was red, white and black, too.

The invitation which inspired this next card was a very clean and simple one with some blue accents.

Can you guess what the invitation looked like for this next card?  Well if you guessed black and white and traditional, you are right.

On this final card I used the paper insert from the invitation as the main card stock for the backgrounds.  The Wild Hearts backgrounder was almost a perfect match to the border around the text on the invitation.

So the next time you get an invitation, give this a try.  Let the invitation inspire the direction or design or colors of your card.  Or actually incorporate parts of the invitation itself.  It’s really fun!

**I’m still out of town visiting my sons and their families and haven’t had as much time to blog as I originally thought I might.  My little 3 year old granddaughter had her tonsils out on Friday and unfortunately developed pneumonia.  She ended up having to stay in the hospital over most of the holiday weekend.  She is home now and doing much better.**

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy Tuesday!

Susan! Your babies are beautiful and so big! I didn’t remember their gorgeous blue eyes - I’m so happy for you that you get to be with them…I’m so glad to hear Kayla is home and doing better…she probably just needed her gramma! Say hi to your boy for me - and give those little girls a hug for me, too! I’m off to see Max on Saturday…only 5 more days!

How fun! I really like the blue and the brown cards.
That’s smart to do the wedding cards based on their annoucements. I did that with the graduation cards I’ve needed the last few years, so that would be great for any occasion, huh? :)
Best wishes for your granddaughter- sick kids are the worst!

Great job on the cards and love the idea of takint the invitation as a starting point - great way to get their taste and colour preferences. Love the layout of the first one and the brads between the diamonds on the last one. I’m sure each recipient will love them.

Sorry to hear about your granddaughter. Great thing about kids is they rebound so quickly and I”m sure she will be running around as always shortly.

Oh dear, I’m sorry to hear that your Granddaughter got sick afterwards…poor thing! I’m glad to hear she is doing better though.
Enjoy the time with your family~ My Dad called me yesterday to let me know he is sending my Mom out to visit us in a few weeks…she doesn’t know YET…he wants to surprise her….it’s killing me to not say anything~ I know how special it is for the kids to see Grandma!
Your cards are all gorgeous…I really like how you personalize the cards….that’s another keepsake for them~

Susan, these cards are beautiful–hand-tailored to the recipients!
I would love to know where you got the stamp (I am assuming that’s what it is!) for the nostalgic black-and-white card. I just love that vintage image!

Susan, sorry to hear about your little grand daughter, but I am glad she is doing better now. I love these wedding cards and what a neat idea to incoporate something from the invitation into your cards…what a clever idea!

PS I am going to VA next week to visit my 2 little grand daughters ages 2 and 6. I have not seen them since March, and I know we will have so much fun using their new play gym set….

These are GREAT! I love all the designs, and it’s so cool that the colors are all nontraditional. Like they’re matched to a couples’ theme colors! :)

What a fun idea to incorporate the look of the invitaiton into the wedding card. I would never have thought of that — but I am sure for the happy couple it’s truly touching!!! All your creations are gorgeous!
