Here are a couple of cards I made using an emboss and stamp technique where only the embossed areas receive any ink. In both instances the cardstock was dry embossed using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Then the embossed or raised areas were stamped. (Read more about it here.)
On this first card, as in the past, I used the mirror image stamp to apply the ink by running it over and across the embossed areas.
On this second card, however, I used a Paisley Backgrounder stamp. I first stamped the background image and then applied the remaining ink the same as with the mirror image stamp by running it over the embossed areas. I just love this effect!
We had a wonderful Christmas at our home. A last minute decision to have my son, Gary and his family, fly in for a week meant that Santa would be paying a visit again this year. It was so fun.
We made a gingerbread house and baked cookies.
We had some crafting time, too.

Thanks for the reminder of the mirror image stamp! What a perfect idea and I forgot about it. I love the pictures of the girls! What fun! In your picture of your gingerbread house I smiled to see you have one of those things with the candles that spins. I had one for years. I forgot what they’re called, but I loved mine. Not sure what I did with it but it was nice to see one again. Thanks for sharing the idea and the cute pics.
That’s a pretty nifty way of getting the ink on just the raised portions. I’ll have to see if I have something that could fill in as a “mirror image” stamp somewhere. =)

Looks like your Christmas was extra special this year too. 😉 Your twin granddaughters look like they have a ton of fun when they come to visit –how could they not with all the activities you have planned for them?! 😉 My parents used to have one of those carousel nativity scenes where the candle heat makes it go round…haven’t seen that in years.
