One of my sons just turned 29.  It was his first time to arrive at this age.  I suspect he may have a few more as I know I certainly did.  heheh

Since he has been helping me with some house plans that we are having done, the image used and patterned paper from Basic Grey’s “Basics White” Designer Paper Collection with their architectural/mathematical feel seemed like a good choice.

When I think of this type of architecture a colorless concrete material comes to mind.  But, I had to have some color!

The arch was stamped twice with a water based ink.  One of the images was colored with Copics over the water base ink which then ran into the Copic ink.  (I was actually trying for this effect.  lol)  The image was then cutout and mounted over the other to give it some dimension.  This was then mounted on a Twinchie whose edges and borders had been colored with the water based ink as well.

When I was young I had ‘designs’ of becoming an architect but decided to be a stay-at-home mom instead.  I feel very blessed to have been in a position to be able to make such a choice.   Four grown boys later there are no regrets.

Hope you had a great birthday, Jeff!

Now I know why your cards are always so wonderfully laid out!! Congrats on your son’s birthday – they grow up sooo quickly. My son in nowhere near 29 but I am still blown away about how old he is already. Four boys….yowzers!! I bow in your general direction LOL! I’m sure they love their mama dearly 🙂

  3. Oh my gosh, this is totally amazing Susan! Your son is really going to love this card! From one stay-at-home mom to another, I’m so glad you decided to be a stay-at-home-work-your-butt-off-like-never-before MOM! I worked 12 years before I had my guys and being a stay-at-home-mom was much more challenging and fulfilling. Like you, I have no regrets . . . I was very, very blessed as well! Big Hugs!!!!

  4. This is a great card. You have such an eye for the right image and clever ideas for pulling the whole card together. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone do such great “male cards”.

  5. Ha!, I thought it was the arc de triomphe!

    Edited to add Mom’s response.
Mom says: “Well that would have made sense, too, since you were just in Paris! I didn’t even think of that! D’oh.”
