This past weekend my DDIL was in a terrible car accident which resulted in a several car pile up on the freeway.  She was very lucky.  Her little Mazda performed beautifully..  the crumple zones crumpled, the engine block dropped and the airbag deployed.  She walked away with only minor injuries.  I thought about sending her a sweet “Thinking of You” type card and am still not sure that that is not what I should do instead of sending this silly one I made for her.  What do you think?  Is it still too soon to be making light of it?  There was one person who was much more seriously injured.

I made this card with today’s color challenge over at Splitcoaststampers in mind, as well.  It includes Perfect Plum, and Kimber’s favorite color is purple.  So that is why the fire hydrant is purple.  That works.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.  Life is so fragile.  Live every moment of it that you can to the fullest!!

Edited: Just wanted to thank those of you who encouraged me to send the card to Kimberly.  I did, and she responded.  Here is part of her response: “Thanks a bunch for the card you sent after my accident! It made me laugh! And it was a very “ruff” day. I’m just sooo thankful beyond words that everything was fine. Well, besides Jeff’s car!”

    Thanks.

  2. I am so sorry to hear about the card accident… On the other hand I am glad that your DDIL is safe and didn’t have serious injuries. Hope she will feel better soon about this whole situation.
I am sure she will like and appreciate your card so much! I absolutely love the colors of it!

  3. It’s the perfect card – and the sooner she laughs about it the faster she’ll put it behind her. Which DIL? Were the girl(s) in the car? Scary!! So glad she is okay! BTW, your talk and Steve’s were wonderful – and I had no idea he was such a tender-hearted guy…it was one of the better meetings we’ve had ALL YEAR! But really, you should have at least stumbled a few times! You know what they say when you do a good job?!? When can you come back!!! xo, Nan

  4. I think its perfect! What a fun card. Susan! So glad she was able to walk away from the accident.

  5. I am so glad she was okay.. That is scary.. I think she may need some humor right now.. Laughter is the best medicine.. This is adorable..Great job Susan.

  6. Well, I guess you know DDIL better than us, but I think your card would bring a smile to anyone’s day! I think mine is a little brighter right now! Sweet card!!

  7. Yes, send the card you made, it will make her smile.
My sister in law was also in a serious car accident recently along with my brother and two of their children. She is on a long road to recovery with a shoulder reconstruction. Although she can’t really use that arm yet she recently sent an email thanking people for their prayers and telling the whole story from her point of view.
At the end she added a card which one of her friends sent. It had a picture of a woman looking at her arm which was no longer attached but rather lying on the pavement! The thought bubble says, ” Well, THAT’S not good.” My sister in law obviously found it funny enough to share, which is a good sign considering what she is going through!

  8. Hi Susan,
So glad to hear your DIL wasn’t badly injured. I think the humor card is fine…it will help her and doesn’t hurt the other party. Prayers for them.

  9. Whoa…how scary for her and you….I think humor always helps to put things in perspective. Your card is adorable, Susan, and I think she will get a kick out of it!!!!

  10. Your card’s great and laughter’s the BEST medicine! Glad to hear your DDIL escaped the accident w only minor injuries.

  11. Thank goodness your DDIL wasn’t seriously injured! In a case like hers, I think this humorous card will work perfectly. I love how the card indicates the sentiment without actually saying it! Very cute, and very clever 🙂

  12. A totally adorable card Susan. I think the card will put a smile on her face . . . thank the Lord, she wasn’t seriously injured!! They say humor is our best medicine . . . I say . . . send it!

  13. So glad your DDIL was able to walk away with minor injuries. How scary! Your card is adorable! I’d send it – I think it would lift her spirits. Love the purple FH.

  14. I’m so sorry to read about the accident, but glad that your DDIL was not seriously injured! I was a passenger in a bad accident a few years ago, air bags deployed…both vehicles totaled, fortunately I only had minor injuries and only minor injuries in the other car that was involved. I am so thankful that no one was seriourly hurt, if someone would have sent me a card like the one you made…(which is really cute, by the way) I would have liked that…it would have made me feel that someone cared what happened to us.

  15. I like the card!
My brother was in a pretty bad accident this weekend too, but on an icy mtn road. He’s in the hospital with broken bones, but when I talked to him yesterday, he was joking about it. Things like having nothing to do so he thought he’d add some excitement…
So yeah, it might work for her!

  16. I think the card is great! Sometimes humor is the best thing in a scary situation!

I’m so glad she wasn’t hurt badly!

  17. I think this card is great and “IT” does happen. I am glad your DDIL walked away unscathed. I bet she knows your humor and will appreciate the card. You are Lucky you do not have to make one of those heart wrenching cards to send to your son right!
We got in a car accident on Friday too, a lady hit us from behind. My daughter said her knee hurt for a few days , my DH didn’t get affected at all and I am really sore as my back was already bad. Our car was not hurt at all. Thank GOD we were not going fast. And yes “IT” happens.
Where were you this weekend for the OWH Blog Tour I looked for you :).

  18. Happy to read your DDIL came out okay! Funny card…I am sure she would expect nothing else from you LOL! Whew!

  19. I think she could use some cheering up and your darling card is just the ticket. I’m glad to hear she’s okay, but sorry about the other injured party. Hopefully they’ll recover fully and without complications.

  20. I’m happy to hear she is on her way to recovery!!! This stinkin’ cute card will definitely make her smile!!! Awesome take on the colors too!!! Hugs ~S~

  21. I am so sorry to hear about your DIL’s car accident but I am glad to know she was not seriously hurt. I hear of accidents like this all too much with Rick driving a tow truck….I hate his late nights most of all!

The card is very cute and its never too early to start cheering her up!

  22. Oh my, so glad she was able to walk away unharmed, I think a cute card would help to bring some smiles to the situation 🙂

  23. Bwahahaha, I love the colors you chose and that “censored” happens sentiment CRACKS me up!!

  24. This is totally cute and I think it would fit. As long as she has a sense of humor about it now. Boy she is lucky she is okay and praise God for that!

  25. yikes! I’m glad that she was ok. I think the card would be just fine. I love the colors too!

  26. Your card is darling and I think perfect to send to her. I’m so sorry that she was in this awful accident, but so thankful she was not seriously injured. This is surely something that you both can be very thankful for this Thanksgiving. Happy Holiday to both of you and the rest of your family. Best, Curt
