Today starts a week of “dirty” challenges over on Splitcoaststampers!  It’s Dare to Get Dirty time!!  Each day there will be 5 or 6 new challenges from which to choose.  Check it out! (You must be a Fan Club member at SCS to participate.)

This card is for a couple of today’s challenges:
DTGD11juliemlacey – use KRAFT cardstock and
DTGD11ChristineCreations – use FRUIT and/or VEGETABLE images.

The image here is colored with Copics.

Because of the black card base, the inside needed a little something extra.

So what are you waiting for?!?  Go get dirty!!

It’s no secret that I love my embossing folders.  Well in playing around with them today, I tried something that was (at least for me) something new.  I created a quick tutorial to show you what I did.  But first here’s the card I made.

This card fits into a couple of different challenges out there in blogland this week.  First is the Sketch Challenge over at Waltzing Mouse Stamps.  The butterfly was made with one of the tree images from their “Teeny Trees” set.  The other challenge can be found at Our Creative Corner.  The challenge is called “All the B’s”.  There are four elements that must be included on your project: Black, Bling, Buttons and Bows.

The black and bow elements are obvious, the bling includes lots of brads and frame anchors and the buttons are the leaves.  I clipped off the plastic loop on the back of the buttons to allow them to lay flat on the card.

Now to the embossed kissing thing that was so fun!  I started with a couple of different inks, a solid image stamp and Cuttlebug’s Textile Embossing Folder.

I inked up a small area of the embossing folder with the darker of the two inks, Memento’s Tuxedo Black.

Then after inking the solid image stamp with the lighter ink (in this case SU’s Really Rust), I stamped (kissed) it directly onto the inked area of the embossing folder.

Here is the result.

Then I immediately stamped it onto the cardstock.

The entire process was repeated until I had a butterfly.  It could have just as easily been a large blossom or even a funky tree!

I can hardly wait to try this with some of my other embossing folders!

Thanks for dropping by today.  Happy Crafting!

Got some new SU toys!  Here is a card made with the “Flower Fest” set.

SO much fun!  The flower center’s brad was colored with the darkest Copic used on the leaves.  Makes for a pretty good match!

Over the past few months I have been trying to simplify my designs to a more clean and simple style.  Must say it has been a difficult journey.  I continually look at a “finished” card and feel like something more just has to be added.  The punched eyelet border on this card left some little tiny white circles.  I took some of them and glued them to the flower lines.  It really muddied up and distracted from the simple sweetness of the card.  Dang.  Too late to take them off as the glue really stuck and removing them would leave marks on the pink card stock. (I tried.)  Double dang!  LOL

Sigh.  When will I learn?!?  But whatever.  I’ve got more new toys to play with, so life is good!

Happy Crafting!!

Waltzing Mouse Stamps has the sweetest clean and simple sketch this week.  Just had to play along.

The Christmas card will be the card for the Waltzing Mouse challenge as it uses some images and a sentiment from their Teeny Trees set.

I mentioned in my last post that I use birthday cards more than any other type of card.  But, I sorta forgot about Christmas cards!  They are at least a close second!

The second card is a slight variation of the Waltzing Mouse sketch.  I still had some Stella Rose designer paper leftover on my desk from a previous birthday card. It found its way into this design as well.  This card also used a new embossing folder from Craft Concepts.  Love it!

The image was colored with Copics and is adhered to a black Twinchie Square.  A little dimension was added by layering the icing around the side of the cake.

Thanks for dropping by today!

As is probably the case for most of you, I need birthday cards to send to family and friends more than any other type of card.  Here’s one that I made using a couple of darling lamp images from Unity’s “Shine On” stamp set.

Paper piecing is so much fun and these lamp shades were the perfect subjects for it.  And as usual, a marker was used around the edges of the designer papers to help define and pop the shapes of the cut out lamp shades.

Hope you are all having a happy summer weekend.  Thanks for dropping by!  Happy crafting!

It’s a white party over at Our Creative Corner!  That’s right.  The challenge is to make a card or project using only white products.

To give an all white creation some interest, a tip suggested at OCC is to “enhance with textures and patterns.”  Embossing, pearls and lace, scalloped patterned vellum and a white rose all came together for this card.

This was so fun!  What a great challenge!

Had some fun playing in Splitcoaststampers’ Sketch Challenge today.

Masculine cards are always more of a challenge for me, but I think this card could be used for a guy by removing the green bow.

The image was colored with Copics.

Just a short post today, but I sure do love it when you stop on by.

Happy crafting!
