Today’s cards are for this week’s Less Is More Challenge. The cards needed to be one layer and were to feature “Foliage.” Texture was given by adding score lines and embossing to the card bases.
Since the only embellishment was a sparkly ribbon, a little interest was created by dotting each of the berries with a white gel pen.
Here is the second card.
A closeup shows the added score lines and embossing on this card as well.
The embossed leaf shape was made by cutting a cardboard template with the leaf die that coordinated with the stamp. After stamping the image, the leaf template was placed on the cardstock matching it up to the image. It was then run through my Cuttlebug.
I was having so much fun, that I made one more card with the holly and berry image. It is dressed up just a bit more with a sparkly brad, some paper piercing and a bright red card base, so it does not qualify for the Less Is More Challenge this week. But it was fun, nonetheless!
Thanks for dropping by today. Happy Crafting!!

Such beautiful cards! Thanks for the white gel pen tip.
These are such beautiful cards, love the holly and the white highlight really makes the berries pop. Nice Idea to emboss the bottom of the card, stops it from being too flat. Using a cut out leaf to emboss around your stamp is very innovative, gives a whole new dimension to the image and your paper piercing is just the best finishing touch to your third card, showing a tiny bit of the red backing card is perfect.
Two wonderful cards. Love how you used the leaf to emboss the image!!
These are both fantastic cards
The holly one is superb!
Great technique
Thanks very much

“Less is More”
All are just awesome Susan!!
Susan, Not only less is more but you have shown how beautiful too! Gorgeous work!
Beautiful cards. I really like how the image has the leaf shape texture to it, awesome idea.
Susan I love all the cards! WOW what an amazing job of coloring the Tweet Leaves stamp. I’m in love with your leaf embossing tip! Genius. I can’t wait to try it out. The holly cards are beautiful too. Is there some trick besides the white gel pen to make those red berries stand out so much. They almost look 3D. TFS.
beautiful, Susan! I need to get busy on my Christmas cards for this month!
Gorgeous cards! I love that I always learn something from you whenever I visit your blog. The leaf embossing looks amazing, and I love the touch of white on the red berries! Beautiful as always!
