Yesterday was Hana’s birthday.  Her favorite color is pink, so I created a card for her that is just bursting with it.

She is the girlfriend of my youngest son, Zach.  And she is adorable and smart and so very talented.

She loves kids and just graduated in Elementary Education.  As she does her student teaching this year, I hope it is a wonderful one.

Hana is also a very talented musician.  Zach gave her a mixer as an early birthday present a couple of month’s ago, and he asked me to make her a birthday card to look like one.  Yikes!  lol  Well this is what I came up with… in pink of course.

She dedicated one of her recent YouTube videos to Zach!  Check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJGxygE2BWc

It’s another Doggie Card.  This one is for my granddaughter who just turned 2.  She absolutely LOVES dogs.

Embossing gives some great texture to the dog.

The fold is at the top and is reinforced to make it a little stronger.  The inside is finished as well.

.

Brooke’s favorite color is yellow.

Amazingly, considering the amount of patterned papers that I have, I couldn’t find any yellow plaid paper in my stash.  So a suitable plaid with a light background was found and then colored with a Copic Marker.  Problem solved.

I recently made a similar card for another granddaughter.  However, I followed the TEMPLATE completely on this one.  Instead of notching out some legs, a ruffled ribbon was adhered across the bottom of the card.

There is a fun challenge right now to make a shaped card.  There’s still lots of time to play along.  Click on the Badge to take you to the challenge!

Here is the card I made for one of my son’s birthdays.  I randomly drew some additional popcorn kernels to the image with a Fine Copic Multiliner.

We recently sold our home.  In the basement we had an in-home theater with a lobby.  In that lobby was a popcorn popper which was not included in the sale.  It was one of the few things from the house that this son really wants.  So for his birthday, he gets it!

The popcorn popper:

The card fits into a couple of fun challenges:

The first challenge is this week’s CAS-ual Fridays Challenge to create a project with polka dots.

The second challenge is this month’s Seize the Birthday Challenge to create a birthday themed project.

It’s been awhile!  The month of May and June were busy busy busy!!  We put our house up for sale and planned to relax for a couple of months waiting and hoping for that right buyer.  Much to our surprise, the house sold in 4 days!  We had to immediately find a place for all of our “stuff” and get it moved out.  But even so, moving had to wait a bit because May also produced the most exciting event of all… the birth of our first grandson!  So, of course, a trip to Arizona for 8 days of holding pure sweetness was in order.

Here is the card I made for little Lincoln.

Here is the TEMPLATE for this oh-so-cute design.

I finished the inside, too.

And now the star of the show.. Lincoln all brand new and beautiful.

Kate is so good to her new little brother.

Oh Happy Day!!

Feb 262013

The last couple of months have been challenging around here!  We are getting our house ready to sell and are in the process of “decluttering”.  Part of that involves moving my crafts to a little teeny tiny cabin for a few months.  Since most of my crafting goodies will not fit in the small space I have there,  a lot of my supplies are boxed up for long term storage.  Some of the stuff is already at the cabin and some still remains here in my craft room.  But I loved this FTL Sketch so much and the other two CAS challenges looked like fun.  So I stole away for a bit and created this card.

The challenges are:

The Clean & Simple Stamping FTL229 sketch challenge.

Less is More Week 108 Challenge to do some paper piercing on your creation.

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge CFC91 to add silver to your CAS project.

I have been so occupied with the house that I hadn’t checked the mailbox in almost two weeks.  I’m so glad I finally did.  Look what treasure was waiting there from my granddaughter, Kate!

It’s really a darling design with the heart slightly angled.  She even stamped on the inside.. a totally “pro” thing to do!

She’s already old enough to sign her name!?!  How is that possible?

Okay.. I’m back to the packing grind.  Those boxes won’t fill themselves!

Happy Crafting!

My granddaughter, Kate, is very serious about science.  She is fascinated by outer space, loves volcanoes and thinks dinosaurs are all that.  Her Grandpa and I visited with Kate and her family earlier this month.  Her dad (our son) is our dentist and it was time for our 6-month checkup.  (Is that a great excuse for a mandatory visit to the Grands or what!  lol)

While in Tucson we visited one of the observatories at the University of Arizona.  We looked through one of their huge telescopes and saw the famous Ring Nebula.

It looks like this in the textbook:

It looked like this through the telescope:

But it was still really cool!

I found some stickers that fit the occasion and decided to make a quick card and send them to Kate.

Next time we are hoping to go and see Jupiter!!

Thanks for dropping by today.  Happy Crafting!

My but a year goes by quickly!

Made this card for one of my newest little granddaughters whose big day is today.  Hopefully it is fairly kid safe with no little rhinestones and bits just in case she eats it!

Making shaped cards is always fun!  I made a template with the measurements to help anyone who may wish to make “one” too!

Here is a quick tutorial of how the designer paper (dp) was put on the front of the card.

Adhesive was placed on the front of the card base.

This was then adhered to the back of the dp making sure to line up the fold on the card base with the edge of the dp.

Finally, I trimmed off all excess dp.

There is still a little time left to play along in my September Sketch Challenge.  An SU stamp set is being offered as some candy!!

Happy Crafting!

For the past several days my DH and I have been in Las Vegas celebrating our twin granddaughters’ 8th birthday.  On Saturday (their actual birthday!), the girls were baptized.  Of course I had to make them a couple of cards for their big day.

I love this little ark and the sweet sentiment, and felt like a rainbow (computer generated) would be a perfect background for it.

Congratulations, girls.  Love you so much!

My twin granddaughters are 8 years old today.  Their cards this year are identical.

Lots of yummy designer paper was used.  Even the insides are covered with it!

Happy Birthday, sweet sweet girls.

Aug 282012

The end of August… Growing up I always had such mixed feelings about this time of the year.  The warm and wonderful summer was almost over, and it was back to school and studying and going to bed at a much earlier hour.  But it was also exciting.  New classes and classmates, new teachers, and new adventures all awaited just days away.

I love this image for those feelings of long (long) ago that it invokes.

It’s always easy to add some fun by adding a couple of strips of designer paper to the inside of the card as well.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Just love it when you do that!  Oh and if you haven’t checked out my current Sketch Challenge, you can see it HERE!  There are still a couple of days left to play along.  Happy Crafting!
