Today is Pi Day.  It is also my great nephew’s birthday.  He loves that his birthday falls on such a “cool” day!  But go figure, I didn’t have a Pi stamp. Actually does anyone? Smiley.ScratchingHeadAni So I printed this image from SnorgTees which I thought was the perfect blend for the two celebrations.

Feb 292016

Had some time to play with this beautiful floral set.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

On this first card the image was stamped with a light pink ink.  As the blooms were colored, the lines blended away.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Love this watercolored look!  However, next time I’ll have to remember to stamp the leaves using green ink! Smiley.RollEyesAni

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

I’ve entered a few challenges with this card:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: “Simon Says: ‘Anything Goes'”

STAMPlorations: “February CAS Card Challenge”

The Color Throwdown: Throwdown #381 – “Pink, Light Green and Kraft.”

CAS on Sunday: “Challenge #77 – One Layer Wonder”

Cards in Envy: “Tickled Pink Card Challenge” – “cards that are mostly pink or have a pink focal point”

Seize the Birthday: “Anything Goes”

This is another floral image from the set.  After coloring, the image was fussy cut.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

A black marker was used to color around the flower to eliminate the white edge.  The flower was then adhered to a dry embossed piece of designer paper.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This last card uses the same image as the first, but this time it is stamped using black ink.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The lines are meant to be seen for a much bolder look.

Here are a couple of cards that are the same… but a little different, too.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The first card uses brighter greens on the leaves, some yellows on the blooms and a small accent of black grosgrain ribbon.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

A white gel pen was used to accent the flower centers and the leaves.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The second card has darker leaves, a little grunge, a little distressing and two patterns of designer paper.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

As with Card 1, a white gel pen was used on the leaves and flowers.  However on Card 2 a glitter pen was added to the flower centers.

Valentine’s Day is just a week away, so today’s cards are all about love!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Card 1 is a clean and simple style.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The sentiment was slightly popped up, and the designer paper was lighted sanded for a distressed feel.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

As might be expected there are a lot of “heart” related challenges in blogland this week.  This card is playing along in the following:

This card is also playing along in this week’s Clean and Simple Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers: “CAS363 – Won’t you call me Sweetheart”

Card 2 uses one of my favorite techniques.. sponging.  Always love that sharp line of color that appears as the masking paper is pulled away.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Silhouetted blooms were stamped, and Stickles was added to the center.  Some of the branches were dotted with a white gel pen.  The sentiment along the side was popped up on foam tape.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Playing in a couple of challenges, too:

I went with a white on white design for Card 3.

Have always loved this look for a wedding card.

Isn’t this a beautiful die!!  The flowers were also die cut and added to the heart with pearls on top.

Is January really almost over?!?  Between all the Holiday activities, building a house and hitting the slopes, I have been helping my son’s girlfriend make some fun and crafty projects for her 1st grade classroom.  I need to visit her class and take some pictures of the agenda strips and job charts, the library checkout system and the attendance magnet board to name a few of the projects I’ve worked on played with.  It has been quite a journey for her as she travels through her first year of teaching!  And it’s been so fun for me that she has let me help her “decorate” her classroom!

Well it’s good to finally be back in my craft room making a few cards.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Made this one with a few challenges in mind to help get the rusty creative side brushed off:

Dec 212015

This year my neighbor covered her tree with darling little red and craft colored decorations.  Seeing them reminded me just how much I love this color combination.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The little pinch of Stickles under the button gives a tiny bit of sparkle to the card while also helping to glue the button onto the wreath.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The card front is cut shorter than the inside of the card.  This allows for some of the designer paper which is adhered to the inside of the card to be seen when the card is closed.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

And when you open the card, you still get to see some of the lovely red and craft paper.

Nov 242015

Thankful.  Grateful.  Just a couple of words that describe how I feel this Thanksgiving time.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The image was stamped three times, and the little leaves were colored with Copics.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The sentiment was cut out and popped up on foam tape.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

With card 2, the image was stamped directly onto the patterned paper.  It was also colored with Copics, die cut and popped up on foam tape.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The white card stock was also die cut with the tree die, cut at the top and bottom of the tree so that the pieces could be separated leaving a small border around the image.  Both of these card stock pieces were also popped up on foam tape.  Love the dimension and depth this gives to the design.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day!

Challenges:

Both Cards are joining the Simon Says Monday Challenge: “Thanks/Thanksgiving” and Craftyhazelnut’s Patterned Paper November Challenge.

Card 2 is playing in Pixie’s Snippets Playground-Week #204.  My favorite snippet is the little section of picket fence and the sweet snippet of patterned paper with all those darling little houses.

Oh and if you have a minute and want to see a fun and joyful dance, check this out.  My son, Jared, was in India a couple of weeks ago attending the wedding celebration of a good friend.  Jared and his girlfriend, Michelle, participated in the dancing for the bride and groom.  Fun stuff.

Happy Crafting and
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Nov 162015

Here are three cards made with a fun new set called “Acorny Thank You.”

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This first card is a clean and simple design.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The acorn was stamped with a water base ink and then shadowed with a Copic marker.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

This acorn uses a couple of the different patterns available in the set.
Stripes + Polka-dots = Love!

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

The little heart buttons in my stash were all yellow, but this orange nut needed green.  It just did.  So I took a Copic marker and colored it.  Problem solved.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Designer paper was used with the acorn punch for these hanging nuts.

KONICA MINOLTA DIGITAL CAMERA

Magnets were placed on the tops and bottoms of each acorn for some mix and match-ability.
